Our Daily Routine
Although Circles Montessori Ethos is fun learning through play we do still have a structure to our day
We prepare carefully for each day in order to meet all the children’s individual needs; we vary the experiences available to them linking our themes that run each half term with letter sound colour and shape of the week.
8am - 8.45am Breakfast Club:
8am- 9.15 Free Play: At the start of each session the children are greeted by members of staff and are encouraged to find their name for self registration. To help the children settle in the children have time for free play. This is the time the children are able to let their imagination run free, playing in the role play area, making things with play dough, playing with water and sand. Painting at the easel, puzzles and construction bricks. They are also free to access any of the Montessori activities on the shelves or tables.
9.30-9.45 Circle Time: Once we have all helped tidied the free play activities away the children gather together and sing the good morning song which introduces all the children individually. They are encouraged to join in discussions and as well as listen quietly as thoughts and experiences are shared about the weather, week’s theme colour & number and sound.
9.45 Snack Time: All children are reminded of hygiene and encouraged to wash hands before snack time and when seated in their groups they are encouraged to help them selves and pour their own drinks cut and serve their own fruit and vegetables. A bowl and cloth are provided to clean away when finished.
10.00-11.30 Montessori Time: The children are able to choose their own activities from the shelves they work independently with support from their key worker if needed. The younger children are encouraged to choose activities from our practical life shelves which can include activities like pouring, threading, cleaning etc. These activities are excellent way of building the children’s confidence and concentration skills. As the children gain confidence and skill they move on to other pieces of Montessori activities and equipment which introduce them to six fundamental learning areas. The children are also free to take part in our daily craft or activity which will normally be related to the terms theme e.g. living things. Montessori time will help your child settle and gain in confidence whilst giving the staff a chance to develop a rapport with the child inviting them to share their thoughts experiences and ideas.
